Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Noir Cigar Case File?

A Noir Cigar Case File is a cinematic cigar video review by Detective Watson. Each video is produced in a 1940s film noir style — atmospheric lighting, original jazz score, and Watson's signature narrative approach. Every cigar is evaluated on construction, draw, burn, flavor, and story, then rated on the exclusive Trench Coat scale.

What is the Trench Coat rating system?

The Trench Coat scale is Noir Cigar's five-level cigar rating system. Five Trench Coats is Legendary — reserved for the rarest finds. One Trench Coat means don't take the case again. Watson rates every cigar on five categories: construction quality, cold draw, burn and draw during smoke, flavor complexity and transitions, and overall story and experience.

Where can I watch Noir Cigar videos?

Noir Cigar Case File videos will be available on YouTube and embedded here on the Case Files page. Subscribe to the Smoke Circle mailing list below to be notified the moment new cases are filed. You can also follow Noir Cigar on Instagram and Facebook for behind-the-scenes updates.

Can I submit my cigar for a Case File review?

Yes. Brands and individuals can submit a minimum of 6 cigars for a full noir-style video investigation. Watson evaluates each submission honestly — verdicts are never for sale. Visit the Investigate Our Services page to open a case.
